The Effect of Cyclosporin A on the Activity of the Testicular Lactate Dehydrogenase

Abstract

|
The effects of treatment with cycloporine A on the testicular tissues were studied in adult rats. Cyclosporine A was administered daily for 14 consecutive days by subcutaneous injection. The specific activities of lactate dehydrogenase isozymes
in
whole
homogenate and supernatant fraction were determined.
A significant decrese of activity of LDH isozyme was observed in the each cyclosporine A treated group, which suggested an injury to testicular tissues by cyclosporine A. In the experiments of varying concentration of substrate, cyclosporine A
lowered
the maximum velocity attainable with a given amount of LDH isozyme but affected Km slightly. So this experiment exhibits that cyclosporine A inhibits noncompetitively the IDH isozyme under testicular tissues of adult rat.
